Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can counteract free radicals effectively and hence protect the body cells from damage at the cellular level. It is also an excellent immune booster.

The kiwi fruit contains vitamin E. There is little oil in the vitamin E found in this fruit, unlike other sources of the vitamin.

A kiwi fruit contains more potassium than an average size banana. This mineral is essential for the function of all cells in the body. What's more, it is an electrolyte which conducts electricity in the body. It is also vital for proper heart function.

It contains the following phytonutrients: beta carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin.

The kiwi fruit has a lot of fiber which is essential for general good health. Fiber lowers the cholesterol level and, hence,is good for the heart too. It is also good for diabetics. Lastly, it promotes a healthy colon.

The fruit also contains some amount of phosphorus, magnesium, thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (B2), and niacin (B3).
