What's Special About Pineapple Nutrition?
It is derived from the tropical pineapple fruit. Those of us who have tasted the fruit love its distinctive tangy sweetness. I'm sure you'll agree with me that nothing is quite like it.
It is available year round. For those who have difficulty getting it, you can try canned pineapple. Look for one without added sugar, if possible. The taste is there. The difference is the taste is less sharp. The best is still to have it fresh and natural.

The best way to have it is when it is ripe. When is it ripe? When most of the fruit has turned yellow. When young, the fruit is green. Gradually, the base of the fruit turns yellow and this spreads up the fruit to its crown. Most pineapples are harvested before it is fully ripe. It can be left aside to ripen for 1 or 2 days.

The pineapple contains a substantial amount of vitamin B6. This vitamin is essential for a healthy nervous system. It also helps in the metabolism of fats and proteins.
The fruit also contains the mineral manganese which aids in the building of bones.
The natural fiber content in the pineapple is excellent for the colon. Fiber is also good for those who are diabetic as it adds bulk and slows down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream.
The enzyme bromelain in it is anti-inflammatory. Bromelain extract from the pineapple has been used to reduce inflammation in arthritis and injuries.
How To Enjoy The Pineapple Fruit
It is best taken fresh and ripe. Just cut it up and enjoy the fruit.
Alternatively, extract the juice with a juicer and you'll get an utterly refreshing drink.
You may want to make a smoothie with freshly cut pineapple. Another refreshing drink, especially on a hot day.
